Kumeu River Pinot Gris 2010
Rating: 89
Bought: Jan 13
Cost: $24
Opened: Feb 13

A lighter Pinot Gris with floral and pear flavours and has an oily texture. A realtively simple Pinot Gris compared to some others, but a pleasant enough drink.
Pierro Chardonnay 2008
Rating: 94
Bought: Nov -1
Cost: $70
Opened: Jan 13

One of Australia's best Chardonnays. Refined, complex and concentrated and gets better as it breaths and warms up. Flavours of cashews, grapefruit, lemons and white peach. Worth the money.
Penfolds Reserve Bin A Chardonnay 2007
Rating: 92
Bought: May 09
Cost: $79
Opened: Jan 13

A wine that is sometimes judged to be better than Yattarna, but this bottle did not reach those heights. It is a fine wine though, clear, taught, minerally with flavours of white stone fruit.
Hardy's Eileen Hardy Shiraz 2002

A fine McLaren Vale Shiraz. A rich and mouth filling Shiraz with flavours of blackberry, cedar, pepper, plum and vanilla with a hint of bacon and savoury meat.
McWilliams Mount Pleasant Maurice O'Shea Shiraz 2004

Light and clear for a Shiraz, refined, with balance and light tannins. Blackberry, cherries, plums and liquorice. One of the better Shiraz from the Hunter Valley.
Kalleske Greenock Shiraz 2004

A big rich Barossa Shiraz with flavours of plum and chocolate. Mouthfilling and smooth, close to its peak drinking time.
Ashton Hills Sparkling Shiraz 2006
Rating: 94
Bought: Dec 12
Cost: $40
Opened: Jan 13

One of Australia's best Sparkling Shiraz, made from Wendouree grapes from the Clare Valley. Great depth of flavour, berries, plums and chocolate. Complex and sweet, a drink to be savoured.
Vavasour Pinot Gris 2012
Rating: 94
Bought: Jan 13
Cost: $19
Opened: Jan 13

A lovely and light wine with depth and length.  The nose is fragrant with tastes of pears, pineapple and white peach, also a hint of lychee. A great drop from Marlborough, New Zealand.
Mount Langi Ghiran Cliff Edge Pinot Gris 2009
Rating: 86
Bought: Jan 13
Cost: $22
Opened: Jan 13

Mount Langi Ghiran is renowned for some great wines, particularly Shiraz. This Pinot Gris tastes more like a Pinot Grigio, and yes there is a difference. Subtle flavours of lemon and pear. Simple flavours and lacking in any lenght of flavour and the richness that better Pinot Gris are known for.
Bass Phillip Estate Pinot Noir 2005
Rating: 89
Bought: Jan 13
Cost: $70
Opened: Jan 13

Made by one of Australia's best Pinot makers. Flavours of red berries and cherries, quite meaty and briary. There is nothing offensive, but it lacks the plushness and fullness of flavour that we are used to with Bass Phillip Pinots.
