Salitage Treehouse Shiraz 2007
Rating: 90
Bought: Apr 13
Cost: $19
Opened: Apr 13

Salitage is one of the leading wineries in the Pemberton Region, in the south west of Western Australia. Flavours of dark berries, pepper and spice. Seems a little raw when first opened but after some time in the glass it softens and becomes a lovely smooth and rounded shiraz. Although 6 years old it still has some time to go. Good value at the price.
Crawford River Cabernet Sauvignon 2006
Rating: 94
Bought: Mar 13
Cost: $42
Opened: Apr 13

Crawford River is renowned for its Riesling so the Cab Sav came as a pleasant surprise. It is an elegant and flavoursome wine. It has clear cabernet characteristics with distinct mulberry flavours. This is the current release so it has been matured for you and is ready to drink.
Mount Langi Ghiran Auxerrois 2005
Rating: 89
Bought: Dec 11
Cost: $25
Opened: Mar 13

When it comes to alternative varieties this is about alternative as they come, a very rare variety. Flavours that are a mix of Chardonnay, Viognier and Pinot Grigio. There are pears and lychees, all quite subtle, and there is also texture and rich mouth feel.
Katnook Estate Odyssey Cabernet Sauvignon 2001
Rating: 94
Bought: Sep 07
Cost: $107
Opened: Mar 13

This is one of the biggest and best Coonawarra Cabernets. Concentrated flavours of berries, plums, chocolate and cedar. Good balance between fruit and oak with distinct but soft tannins. Finishes long.
Paringa Estate Reserve Pinot Noir 2007
Rating: 93
Bought: Oct 10
Cost: $90
Opened: Mar 13

This is one serious Pinot. Bigger and richer than most, but still with distinct Pinot flavours of cherries, plums and spice. Big and mouth filling, this is a wine of structure and complexity.
Kay Brothers Amery Block 6 2010
Rating: 92
Bought: Mar 13
Cost: $62

A renowned McLaren Vale Shiraz. Flavours of berries, liquorice and spice. Long finish with velvety tannins.
Fox Creek Reserve Shiraz 2010
Rating: 93
Bought: Mar 13
Cost: $65
Opened: Mar 13

A well known McLaren Vale wine and one of the better wines from this region. Plenty of fruit, berries and plums, along with vanilla, chocolate, liquorice and spices. A rich full wine with a long finish that will improve over the years.
Tatachilla Fundation Reserve Shiraz 2010
Rating: 91
Bought: Mar 13
Cost: $48
Opened: Mar 13

This wine shows the benefit of a couple of years of bottle age. The flavours are better integrated and there is more texture in the wine. The colour of the wine is noticably older with a brown tinge. On the nose there is a strong coffee aroma. On the palate, black fruit, leather and liquorice.
Mr Riggs Shiraz 2010
Rating: 90
Bought: Mar 13
Cost: $45
Opened: Mar 13

Mr Riggs is one of my favourite McLaren Vale labels, especially The Gaffer Shiraz. This wine is a step up from that. It has a richer palate with more complex flavours of blackberry, vanilla, spice and chocolate.
Rosemount District Release Shiraz 2011
