Ladybird Hill
The setting is beautiful and full of potential but the restaurant didn't quite live up to its neighbouring surrounds. Majestic hills rise above the restaurant and the setting feels like a quintessential vineyard experience. The service could have been more responsive and focussed on enhancing our experience. The food choices were limited but sounded enticing. Our table ordered both vegetarian and chicken pasta and the lamb. The pasta was good but too big a serve even for your average rugby player. The lamb was very disappointing unfortunately - usually a safe bet in NZ however it was overcooked. The vegetables and caramelized onion on mash were lovely on their own. Wine choices were limited but those tried were enjoyed! Has potential but a way to go on this particular evening!
