Bistro One Eleven
Bistro One Eleven is an off shoot of Phillip Johnson's renowned Ecco restaurant. Its a great location and quite and an amazing space with high "ceilings" and it lives up to its intention to be "elegant and relaxed". There is plenty of space between the tables and there is full length glass providing views out over Eagle St and the Story Bridge. There are white table clothes and the chairs are very comfortable, but incredibly heavy, and we are not sure why. The wine list is comprehensive and varied but with only a limited selection available by the glass. The menu is rather simple and limited in scope and if you don't want a steak the choice is quite restricted, its not a place for vegetarians. Three of the four dishes we ordered were excellent, the fourth the beetroot risotto, was all beetroot and no risotto. The servings are large so you wont go hungry. When ordering it pays to ask what comes with the dish so that you can decide whether or not you need sides. The service was good but not great.
Overall, a restaurant that has much to offer, all the right ingredients are there but it just doesn't seem to come together to provide a memorable dining experience, but with some fine tuning it could!
