Opus One Napa Valley

Opus One was founded as a joint venture between Baron Phillipe de Rothschild of France and Robert Mondavi from the Napa Valley. Their aim was to combine the best of both worlds and create an exceptional wine in the Napa Valley. And essentially that is all they do, make one wine, called Opus One that retails for around $300 a bottle, although they do make a lot of it, about 20,000 cases. In recent times they have also made a secondary wine, called Overture, that is made from the wine that is not good enough to be included in Opus One.

The winery is an amazing building that only the photos can describe.

We took an Estate tour and tasting which took us through the whole building and included glasses of both Overture and Opus One.

The most notable feature was the barrel hall, which is enormous. These photos were taken standing in the middle of it.
